The Insta-Worthy Lifeguard Huts of South Beach
It’s a fact of life, lifeguard huts are cute. The ramshackle structures with their weather worn beams are so rustically charming. Who doesn’t have the urge to climb up?!? Now you may (but probably aren’t) thinking – jen, how can we possibly improve on these magical structures? And about a week ago I would have said that you can’t. Then South Beach made me eat my hypothetical words.
Circles, waves, comic book "POW" shapes its all there girls - in a sherbet celebration of every geometric shape ever. Its almost difficult to remember their main purpose is not to dazzle, delight and star in Instagram posts.
Comic book "POW" shape for those who need clarification.
There are 25 structures in total, each completely unique. Some are patriotic and others are just downright weird. Luckily the majority are super adorable and bright, Plus what an amazing meeting point when meeting up with people (I am next to the purple and orange swoop stand!)
Walking through Lummus Park (the pathway and palm tree paradise between South Beach and Ocean Drive) you will see some retired huts and also some in the making.
It doesn't stop there, look at this towel shed. How quickly do you think I could DIY this for my yard in Brampton. (jk, jk)
Get this - each towel hut has matching umbrellas and chairs for their portion of the beach. Its just a perfectly coordinated paradise! The fun doesn't stop there, just a street away awaits an Art Deco paradise beyond belief, check it out here!
